Tips for buying a new home in San Antonio TX

March 10th, 2010

There are some inexpensively priced new San Antonio homes on the real estate market if you’re interested in getting a bargain from the local and national home builders. Many San Antonio home builders are highly motivated to cut deals to reduce inventory, especially if the buyer contracted with a buyer’s agent who knows the knows the available buyer’s incentives and can advocate on behalf of the buyer’s interest.

Buying a new home makes a lot of sense for many people in the market, as opposed to buying a fixer upper that has the potential for costing a lot of money with fix it items and a to-do list a mile long after closing. With a new home purchase, buyers tend to report a much higher satisfaction rate with their purchase than those who buy previously owned houses. Why? There are several reasons.

Buy new - it reduces your risk

When you invest in a new home, there is generally less risk of getting burned by unforeseen expenses or repairs because you are negotiating with a reputable builder with many other homes and communities in most cases. In fact, all you have to do to gauge buyer satisfaction is walk down the street and talk to other home owners. You’ll immediately get a feel for the the quality of the home, and hopefully, the amount of confidence you can have that you are getting a good deal. If you don’t want to have to worry about a hidden sub-standard repair you may need to deal with later, do yourself a favor–buy a new home.

When you buy new, it’s less hassle

If you don’t want to have to deal with common things like repairing leaky roofs, repainting ceilings, and waiting for contingency contracts to pan out (believe me, that can take awhile and is a major deal-killer), then you should think about buying a new home rather than a pre-existing home. Because the home builder has done the process many times, chances are pretty good the sale will go effortlessly. However, with private party transactions, you are much more likely to have delays and costly missteps along the way to your closing.

You can avoid all that by purchasing a new San Antonio home instead.
