What A Trip: Rapidly Acquiring A Classic Mustang

May 7th, 2010

I really have not been able to post on the web site quite as much as I’d planned, owing to the fact that I have been helping my Dad manage his wild & crazy midlife crisis. Well, you might think it isn’t as crazy as it could possibly be. Basically how he did it was he got all done up like the Fonz or something, and storm over to my apartment and tell me, in his “coolest” possible vocal tone: “Get ready, bro, we’re going to be scouting for some classic Ford Mustang Sales. You got it, brother, I’m all set to get myself a real cruiser.”

And so my Dad and I went out to all of those weird vintage car showrooms that most people are mostly certain are mob-run, and I see my crazy padre made out a check without even stopping to think, for an extremely well-preserved classic Ford automobile. It’s an intense car. It sounded amazing too.

I want to point out that I said about that sound in the past tense. It sounded really nice right up to the point that it seized up completely. Dad maintains that it’s a really easy thing to fix and he just needs the right part. I’m thinking, it may not be as painless to locate classic Mustang parts as it was like a million years ago, but he informs me there is a really good-sized availability for them regardless. It seems like the nicest way to buy parts for 1967 Mustangs is actually online auctions, since you can find them refurbished and sometimes as good as new. They’re not necessarily that inexpensive, though… Get real, these are 30-year-old automobile parts.

Could be worse, though… He could’ve decided to buy a harley.
